Jacob’s touch heals the dead as we saw with Locke in the flashback when he was pushed out of the window by his Dad. Maybe Jack can also heal in the same way, but he just doesn’t know it yet.
- He healed Aaron when he touched Claire in the Pilot. (hinted at when Aaron stops breathing briefly in “What Kate Does”)
- He Healed Rose when she really looked Dead to me in the Pilot.
- Charlie definitely died in Season 1 at the hands of Ethan, but was miraculously saved by Jack in a strange scene when he did CPR Extreme on him.
- He saved Sawyer from the gunshot wound, he was also in a bad way after the raft incident with Walt.
- Jack also tried to save Boone with a blood transplant, but if I remember rightly he eventually was talked round and lost his Faith and so Boone chose to die. Maybe Jack must have Faith and Belief that he can fix people.
- He flashed back to when he saved Sarah’s life, his wife and it was literally a Miracle. I remember Jack flashed back to the Stadium where Des gave Jack the advice to “Lift it Up,” with regard to Sarah before he left, promising to ”See you in another life, Brother.”
This is where it all began… but which life are we in Brother?
Was this event after Jacob touched Jack and possibly passed on his gift to Spiritually Heal? Maybe Jack has always been ‘The Candidate” for Jacob’s replacement?
- Surely it is entirely possible that Jack “healed” Sayid in the Temple in the same way we have seen many times before, maybe Dogen and the Others just don’t realise Jack’s power in his new belief and what just happened!
Jack’s tattoo on his left shoulder are of the number 5, and 4 Chinese characters just underneath. In “Stranger in a Strange Land”, we learn that this was tattooed on Jack in Phuket, Thailand, by a Thai woman named Achara. She claims to have the gift of sight to see someone’s inner identity. She is able to “see who people are”, and “mark them”. According to Achara, Jack is “a leader, a great man” but this makes him lonely and angry. He forces her to give him the tattoo, despite her protests that she will get in trouble if she does.
(Tattoos: “He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us.” “Hawk in the expansive sky” or “Eagles high up cleaving the sky”)

Is the Hurleybird a kind of Smokey in the form of The Spirit Healer, was this Jacob?
