Lost S.6 Ep.11 - Thoughts on Happily Ever After:

‘Happily Ever After’ was ‘The Constant Part II’ and it was the most powerful episode of the season so far. ‘Ab Aeterno’ was brilliant, but “Happily Ever After” blew all other episodes out of the water in terms of the bigger picture of Lost.
The Constant always was my previous favourite episode, A Game Changer, A point in Lost when you have to rethink everything and the more you think the more excited you get. This is the same all over again, with exactly the same character, Des, who is revealed to be ‘The One’ and finally realises it like ‘Neo’ did in the Matrix. (My other favourite movie, shit I Love this shit.)
The comparisons with ‘The Constant’ and the meanings will keep me happy for a while yet. George Minkowski was cool and helped Des in both episodes except this time he felt a lot more angelic and prophet like in his nudging of Des in the right direction, an interesting twist I haven’t quite worked out yet?!?
Charlie was dead but couldn’t die, he knew it was wrong but how much does he really know? His LA X near-death experience certainly left him very enlightened, he has seen the light and kick starts Des’s illumination of the truth.
Dan Widmore, the brilliant quantum physicist who ended up being a musician (his heart’s choice) but was haunted with his visions of the impending Apocalypse, also has seen the light of truth through his Love of Charlotte.
It is looking more and more likely that we are actually seeing the ‘Eve of The Apocalypse’ and Des is the SuperBrotha, he is ‘The One’ to save everybody and everything, he has seen The Light, The One True Way, the fact that Unconditional True Love is the real truth to being ‘Happily Ever After’ wherever you are in time and space. Love can overcome all obstacles even through parallel universes.
At it’s heart, LOST is about LOVE and LOVE is about LIFE.
Interestingly, Love stories are prominent in the Island world but true Love appears to be absent in the ALT timeline, yet more evidence that the ALT is some kind of manifestation of MIB, a Grand Trick of Reality, (A Matrix like, false illusion of Reality) which is beginning to be unravelled by the power of Love.

The Matrix keeps coming to mind and the way Neo can manipulate Time and Space in the Matrix. He can stop bullets with thought alone, he can survive catastrophic events like being shot and has No Fear, I can see Des standing up to fLocke without any fear at all. Even if MIB materialises into Smokey form, Des will just repel him with his Electromagnetic super powers (sonic fence style) and smile while saying something like:
“It’s time to bring this game to an end, Brother.”
Therefore it doesn’t worry me that Sayid just escorted SuperBrotha off to fLocke, Neo wasn’t afraid when he realised his Destiny and he faced Agent Smith in the rain. He willingly sacrificed his life to defeat The Evil, all in the name of ‘LOVE’, just as Des will in his Love for Penny, all very Messiah like and at Easter time too, hmmm.

Des is So Fucking Special because his consciousness is able to pass between ALT realities just as he could between time in The Constant. His mission in the ALT is to enlighten all the 815 ers to the truth and to all their destiny’s. We have seen the hints of Deja Vu that they have been experiencing and mirroring, Des will speed up the process, after all it’s The ‘Eve of the Apocalypse’ as i’ve been saying for a long time and time is running out if they are to save the real world, but what is real? Should I just say the Island world?
Des has to “Show them something” , to enlighten & remind them to what is really going on in the Island world and the fact that they are somehow living in a false reality. They are all in the bloody Matrix and need to wake up and remember the truth that there is no spoon, that their lives are not real and that the real world is in serious DANGER! All the timelines, realities, events and Love stories will ultimately merge in the Finale, now we have ‘The One’ to put the pieces together before that event happens and possibly CHANGE things, hopefully for the better so we really can all Live Happily Ever After.
The game is not only on, but coming to a climax and more importantly the game board is now visible. ’Happily Ever After’ kicked off the inevitable cross-dimensional struggle and Des is leading the charge.
Random Thoughts:
- Des has survived a “catastrophic electromagnetic event” - The Swan Incident WAS Catastrophic after all, we just haven’t seen the whole picture yet.
- The MRI technician gives Des a button to push — a Panic Button
- “Penny Milton” + “Dan Widmore” - OK so who is Penny’s Dad in the ALT timeline? Who is Mr Milton? I bet He is important!
- Eloise uses the term “Violation” - A Violation of the Rules? Hang on Eloise, you sure are scary in the ALT, are you sure your not a hypocrite. Widmore and Eloise appear to have switched roles.
- Violation warning to Charlie.
- Violation warning to Des.
- Violation warning to Daniel.
- Violation warning to Widmore.
- Major Violation warning to Eloise.
- Ryan McGee came up with a good theory: What if Eloise Hawking/Widmore is the “Lost” version of “Fringe’s” Walter Bishop, willing to undo an entire universe to once again be with her lost child? What if Eloise made a deal with MIB to create the Loophole in exchange for Dan to remain safe as a musician and not a physicist. Dan realises it’s wrong and wants to reverse it.
- The MRI montage reignited years of memories for me as well as for Desmond.
- We’ve seen fLocke promise people what they want, over and over again, only to see the cracks in his promises show in the ALT timeline. It’s either obviously not real or the writers are completely screwing with our heads.
- Has MIB tried, in a very Matrix-like way, to create the perfect Utopia for each and every one of our heroes, it’s certainly looking less likely that is was all Juliet’s Nuke doing now, especially as all our Heroes ‘supposed’ dreams seem to be coming true as well in the ALT timeline until Des woke up that is.
- Charlie’s telling Desmond that he’s barking up the wrong tree is exactly the same as when Rose and Bernard told Sawyer, Kate, and Juliet to stop worrying about bombs, guns, and time travel. (Rose & Bernard realised all this long ago)

- I’m now finally starting to see what this Progress actually is…
I realised after digesting this episode, just how much I am going to Bloody Miss Lost when it’s gone, Sob, Sob, Sob :(
